Una comunidad, un pueblo, casas, mercados, y tiendas, todo flotando en medio de un paisaje increíble. La bahía de Halong es una de las postales de Vietnam, y con su belleza no es para menos. Pero en particular, en éste post nos internamos virtualmente en  las villas flotantes que representan la adaptación de los habitantes a la geografía bastante abrupta del lugar. En la bahía Halong, lo que escasea es el terreno plano, entre promontorios de origen kársticos, islas y pequeñas rocas que emergen en el agua.
La riqueza pesquera del lugar fue suficiente para que muchos pensaran en establecerse viviendo sobre estructuras flotantes, en casas que de un modo permanente permanecen en el agua y sin contacto directo con tierra firme.
En las villas flotantes de la Bahía de Halong, todo depende del agua, y su forma de vida, está completamente ligada a la pesca y la extracción de mariscos. Imposibilitados por completo de realizar cultivos en la zona, los habitantes de la villa viven de la pesca y cada mañana parten en busca del sustento.
Las comunidades flotantes más conocidas son las de Cua Van, Ba Hang, Cong Tau y Vong Vieng. Sus habitantes también se las ingenian para practicar la acuicultura marina, de hecho, son aguas poco profundas y calmas donde habitan decenas de especies de peces y moluscos. Claro que a pesar de lo idílico que se ve el lugar, no faltan algunos problemas por contaminación de la mano del crecimiento poblacional y el turismo. Con todo, parece que nada llega a opacar la belleza de una de las bahías más bellas del mundo.
