Las llamas eternas, en Turquía // The eternal flames in Turkey

Yanartaş es un accidente geográfico en la provincia de Antalya, al sudoeste de Turquía, en donde las emisiones de metano alimentan llamas que no se han apagado por siglos. Yanartaş significa “rocas ardientes”, y hace referencia al fenómeno que se produce en una docena de aberturas en el suelo agrupadas en la ladera de un monte cerca de la antigua Olimpos y su valle.
La leyenda del lugar y sus referencias históricas, lo han identificado (no sin pocos debates), como el antiguo monte Quimera, un lugar mítico donde se sucedían fenómenos volcánicos que pudieron dar origen al mito que perdura hasta la actualidad. Hoy, el sector, es un área de senderos popular para turistas y excursionistas y una curiosidad más de los lugares de Turquía.
